Gemini Handmade

Gemini Handmade on Cherry Street in Grand Rapids has been an evolving undertaking for Elyse Welcher and Jake Vroon. Back in 2013, Welcher was setting into motion her vision of a combination studio workshop and gallery that would double as a place for local artists to sell their wares. Vroon, her husband now and owner of Harbinger Designs, showed up with an offer to help.

Bayberry Cottage is set up as a true home décor boutique, with every aspect of the home on display. The focus is on a casual lake lifestyle with fun, bold colors and designs. Gwen DeBruyn wanted to create a true one-stop-shop offering an extensive line of furniture and creative lighting options, artwork, homewares, and accessories like throw rugs and pillows.

The Rust Belt Market

As luck would have it, Tiffany had taken note of a large building on a busy corner in Ferndale. A building that had been empty for many years made for owners that were very motivated to lease it out. So, with a little savings and some family loans, the couple took a leap of faith and The Rust Belt Market was born.

Rebel Magnolia

Funky, eclectic, hip, stylish, earthy. All are words that readily describe Rebel Magnolia in Saginaw. Owners Hailey Cannon and Lauren Husen each bring their own special style and strong design skills to this chic boutique, Cannon with a fun bohemian vibe and Husen adding a mid-century modern flare.

Regional Feature: Mapleridge Construction

The client found Scott Naumes of Mapleridge Construction by referral. She arrived at their first meeting with her own plans but was eager to hear professional recommendations and creative ideas from the Mapleridge team about how to improve on this already magnificent home design.

Stonehedge Gallery

Stonehedge Gallery has an extensive array of art across all mediums. There is something for everyone. Sculpture, pottery, blown glass, furniture, dinnerware, papier-mâché, oil and watercolor paintings, fiber arts, stained glass, and handmade greeting cards that are each a work of art in their own right, are spread out over each floor of the building.

Focus On: Patricia’s Chocolate

Over the course of two years, Patty Christopher honed her art and focused on chocolate - high-quality chocolate. As she continued to study, she began buying supplies, equipment, and ingredients, creating her own special melt-in-your-mouth treats and sharing with family and friends for taste-testing.
