Distressed Design

Can you imagine the rim of a bike tire paired with bike chains becoming a magnificent chandelier? Bower Clock Company

During his apprenticeship, Bower took every opportunity to learn from the experts around him, developing a deep respect and admiration for true craftsmanship and traditional techniques. By the time his apprenticeship was over, Bower had developed a real love for working on clocks of all shapes and sizes, so he decided to start his own business.

Focus On: Magic Mud Ceramics

Magic Mud continued to grow, and, in 2014, Claus and her partner Christopher Piper purchased a home on 12 acres near Ludington. They converted the walkout basement into a combination studio and retail location and opened for business in 2018. Now open year-round, customers can visit, peruse her wares, and take home one-of-a-kind pieces.

Focus On: Khnemu Studio

Soltysiak’s style of ceramic artwork is organic and earthy. She employs a wide variety of firing techniques -- wood fired, stoneware, Raku, smoke fired, pit fired, salt and soda fired -- and each creates a distinct look in the finished work.

Regional Feature: Moeller Builders

“Working with Moeller Builders was an amazing experience. The one-on-one customer service, stellar craftsmanship, and creative thinking from everyone involved are hard to find. Brett Moeller was on site almost every day. It truly made the entire project so much easier,” says Smith.

Focus On: Northern Nail Polish

The newest product for Northern Nail Polish is an all-natural, soy-based polish remover. It has no acetone, and hence, no odor, and it actually nourishes your nails with lavender oil as it removes the polish. Just put a few drops on, let it sit for a few seconds, and use a cotton ball to rub it off. Magic!
