Building Community: Grant Me Hope

Zeerip founded Grant Me Hope to rescue an often-forgotten group – foster children. They are in the foster care system through no fault of their own and are innocent victims of circumstances beyond their control. Now, these children wait for someone to give them a permanent home and the love that all children deserve.

Building Community: Comprenew

Michiganders committed to increasing the potential for a sustainable future by decreasing e-waste have a brilliant ally: Comprenew. The nonprofit is dedicated to reducing the threat of electronic waste by recycling and refurbishing it. Comprenew offers affordable refurbished products at three retail locations in West Michigan and has 14 e-waste collection sites throughout the Midwest.

Focus On: Fortino’s General Store

When Fortino’s General Store, located in the middle of Grand Haven’s main shopping district, went on the market in late 2014, the city held its collective breath. People worried about what might become of this beloved institution that had thrived for 103 years and three generations in the same family.

Regional Feature: 42 North Custom Homes

Greg England and Ben Van Dort, co-owners of 42 North Custom Homes in Holland, and developer/designer Dennis Jacobs had a simple goal for their project on Lake Macatawa: to make a splash by razing a traditional 1940s home and replacing it with a three-story Modern Contemporary.

Focus On: Full Circle Creations

After a year and a half of intense planning, hard work, and the selection of beautiful, handcrafted items by local artisans to stock the shelves, Full Circle Creations in Zeeland was ready to open its doors.

Building Community: Beer City Dog Biscuits

"We have eaten hundreds of dog biscuits,” states Suzanne Wilcox, who founded Beer City Dog Biscuits with lifelong friend Leslie Hooker. “Flavors vary from a stout to an IPA and beyond.”

Regional Feature: Moeller Builders, Inc.

A classic log cabin on Burt Lake in Cheboygan was perfect except the cabin needed updating and more living and storage space. Having worked with Moeller Builders, Inc. on previous projects, these clients returned for a major remodel and seamless addition filled with custom upgrades for the ultimate Northern Michigan getaway.

It is that personalized service – as well as curating furniture, art, and accessories to match a client’s taste – that defines the turnkey work of interior designers Dana Rickers and Janel Joppie, owners of Room Candy in Grandville.
