Connie Fisher became the proud new owner of Spice Harbor in Harbor Springs in November 2017. It wasn’t planned. Fisher’s daughter had heard that Spice Harbor was up for sale and told the owner that she knew someone who just might be interested in buying it. The next thing Fisher knew, she was signing papers and taking the keys. Fisher is not new to the retail gift industry, however. As the former owner of a Hallmark gift and floral shop, it wasn’t a stretch to see herself as the proprietress of Spice Harbor.

So far, Fisher is enjoying meeting customers and revamping the store’s inventory. Spice Harbor is a home cook’s dream. Personally, I could spend hours in any kind of snazzy kitchen gadget and gift store, and Spice Harbor is certainly no exception. Fisher says that some of her most popular products are Michigan-made foods, and you will find loads of those here, including Alden Mill House, Fustini oils and vinegars, and Great Lakes Tea and Spice products, to name just a few.

Other popular product lines include Polish pottery, Bill Campbell Pottery, and the hilarious Anne Taintor line of vintage gift items. Fisher also sells greeting cards and teapots, kitchen towels, French presses, utensils, and baking supplies. With many home décor items, including blankets, pillows, and whimsical signs, Spice Harbor has an eclectic variety of gift items for you and all of your friends and family members.

Since taking over the shop, Fisher has added a new service – fresh floral arrangements. This has been very well received by regular customers, who were not used to having the convenience of fresh floral arrangements and plants available at Spice Harbor.

Another popular service is custom gift baskets. For convenience, Fisher offers pre-made selections, but many customers prefer choosing exactly the items they wish to include, and she will then arrange them beautifully in a wrapped gift package that is sure to be well received.

Fisher looks forward to spending 2018 getting to know what her customers are looking for, which will allow her to add new and exciting product lines and services, offering her own take on Spice Harbor and the town of Harbor Springs. She is in the process of creating an all-new website and ramping up a presence on social media, so be on the lookout!
